The Game

The virtual world is complex and interactive; people have been building it for years, ever since user-generated RPG games began. There is no limit to the worlds that can be created by developers, both inside and outside the digital universe. When people in the physical world desire to join in on the fun, they can enter through different consoles, depending on the "level" they wish to play at.

Like other RPG games, people can interact in different worlds with different limits and abilities. Some of the most popular worlds include: DragonWorld - a rocky terrain and rookeries where dragons and people train side by side; OceanWorld - people can act much like mermaids, interacting underwater and dwelling in the depths of the ocean; SuperWorld - superheroes and villains abound and anyone could inherit any ability, but who will overcome?; MidievalWorld - knights and maidens, dragons and wars, castles and roaring fires, what more could anyone ask?; AustenWorld - become a hero or heroine in one of Jane Austen's classics and see for yourself how your coming-out feels; BetterWorld - become who you were meant to be in our classic alternate reality. You can join them all or create your own, based on your own budget.

Although there are different worlds throughout the game which you may enter by using portals situated throughout the "worlds," there is a difference in how users can interact with the game. There are three main "levels" of interaction:

  • Avatar: This is the cheapest version of the game/console. Much like modern RPG games, a user may access the game while still aware of their physical surroundings. This does not allow full immersion in the game, and users are limited in what they can do, but it still allows access to a world that has become increasingly vital.
  • Dimension (Multidimensional): This is a headset that the user may use, and it is the most prevalent and popular form of the game. Your body does not become involved in the game; however your mind is entirely absorbed. You are able to experience the game as if you were really there, but you must eventually leave in order  to go through typical physical functions of the body - such as eating etc. This headset does cover the back of the head and down to the tip of the nose, connecting with the spinal cord at that base of your skull. Users are immersed, but the dangers of Pod levels are not as prevalent.
  • Pod: The pod is generally used by the wealthy, or those who are sick of their real world. These pods allow users to become a part of the game in a whole new way, although this makes them vulnerable to an array of virtual dangers. Pod users are submerged into a viscous liquid, called "vodge," with a kind of gas-mask around their heads which connects to the spinal cord in the back. A pod user can remain in the pod until they die, as their bodies can freely move and they can be fed via their mask. Pod users can almost literally live in the digital world, with no thought of the physical bodies they have left behind. Naturally, this has some problems: there must be someone on the outside maintaining the pod, and users must have the means to keep it running - if you cannot afford it, you will be thrust out of the game, and some have had trouble readjusting to physical life; your body can be effected by the game - if there is a virus in the game your own body will become susceptible; and due to these problems, it is possible for computer hackers to access your own memories and thoughts without your consent.
The different users are allowed different options for gameplay so that they can move about freely in the game. There is a menu that users can generate and personalize - much like a personal website or blog - with their own favorite destinations or access points (also allowing users to deactivate and activate their character, change settings, choose worlds, see maps etc.). Avatar users simply use their keyboard buttons to access this menu. Dimension users can use a key phrase or action which they have chosen when signing up for the game with the console; users can change their settings either via computer while in the physical world which is easier for some, or via their specialized menu within the game (this menu can appear to them depending on how they have set it up). Pod users have the same capabilities with their menu as the Dimension users, but have more possible access points - such as telling the system how you want to eat, whether your body is fed when you eat in the game or regularly etc.
